Can you wash a desk pad?

Yes, you can wash a desk pad, but the method depends on the material of the desk pad. Taking good care of your desk pad is so important to get the most use out of it. The type of material will determine the best cleaning method. Here are some enthusiastic tips for each:

  • For fabric desk pads (such as felt pads, and forearm / wrist / elbow anti-fatigue cushions) gently hand wash using a mild detergent and lukewarm water. Be sure to rinse well and air dry - avoid heat from the dryer which could warp the fabric. Follow these steps and your fabric pad will stay looking fresh!
  • Plastic, PVC or PU - These types of desk pads can be wiped down with a damp cloth. You can use a mild soap or a mixture of water and vinegar for a deeper clean. Rinse with a clean, damp cloth and dry with a towel.
  • Leather lovers, specialized care is key for your luxurious leather pads. Gently wipe with a damp cloth and a touch of mild soap, then buff dry. Leather cleaners and conditioners made for upholstery will keep that buttery leather feeling oh so nice.
  • Rubber and silicone and linoleum pads clean up in a jiffy with a damp cloth and a dab of mild soap. A quick rinse under running water works too, but avoid soaking. Be sure to air dry fully before placing back on your workspace.
  • Ergonomic & Gaming desk pads require a little extra care, since they are typically laminated with a fabric while their base is made of dense sponge like rubber. You can simply swipe away dust with any cloth or towel. It works best on nylon fabric. Wet wipes can be used to wipe off spills, food etc. Lint roller will do a wonderful job too. But these types of desk pads are not suitable for hand or machine wash.

Always check product labels for custom care - some pads have unique coatings. Proper cleaning extends the lifespan and lets your desk pad rock on!
